We’re new to Turkey Trots. Those of you who know me know that I’m lying when I say that. I have yet to run — or walk — a trot. Same with my husband. But my daughter signed up last year and walked/ran with some of her teammates. She’s 11.
She came home with slightly flushed cheeks (more so from the chill in the air than the
record breaking exercise. As soon as she came home she said she felt “so alive!” and was so happy she did it. Sometimes she ran, sometimes she walked…
This year, I asked her if she would want my husband or me (or both of us) to join her…so she wouldn’t be alone and it could be a family thing. And she said…no.
Turkey Trots = game changer.
As of writing this, she doesn’t know who she’s running/walking with but she’s psyched to be a part of it.
And the great thing about Turkey Trots is that proceeds are used for charities or local government.
So, because I’m a big believer in giving back + keeping kids active, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if I wrote a Turkey Trot post with all of the local races?”
Turns out someone else did. Thank you, Mommy Poppins.
I’m including a link below, but also wanted to point out that the Garden City race also features a special needs Challenger race. WE ♥ THAT!!!
